Avon History
Timeline:
Avon’s founder, David McConnell, had no intention of starting a beauty company.
He was a traveling book salesman who gave away free perfume samples as a bonus during his presentations.
He soon realized that the customers were more interested in the free perfume samples than the books.
So, after his “aha” moment, McConnell went back to his New York City office and started experimenting with different fragrance mixtures in order to come up with a signature product.
September 1886:
He then organized a team of passionate female sales representatives to assist him in the launch of his new perfume brand.
He began his new business in a small Manhattan office at 126 Chambers Street.
This was a bold business model in 1886, but McConnell believed in the power of community and was dedicated to economically empowering women.
1892
McConnell changed the company’s name in 1892.
His business associate suggested the name “California Perfume Company.”
His partner, who was residing in California at the time, suggested the name due to the number of flowers there.
May 1894:
As vice-president and treasurer, Alexander D. Henderson helped to shape the company’s policies and contribute to its success.
1897:
In Suffern, New York, the business established a laboratory…
May 3, 1909:
The California Perfume Company relocated its headquarters to New York’s 31 Park Place.
June 16, 1909:
In the state of New Jersey, McConnell and Henderson signed a certificate of incorporation for the California Perfume Company.
January 28, 1916:

June 3, 1932:

March 2016:
Cerberus Capital Management purchased Avon Products preferred stock for $435 million in cash, closing a transaction that began in December 2015 when Avon sold 80.1 percent of its North American division to Cerberus.
The contract was worth $605 million in total. As a result of the investment, Cerberus currently owns about 17% of Avon Products.
August 2019:
New Avon LLC, a privately-held North American company that separated from Avon Products, Inc. (formerly known as Avon Worldwide) in 2016, has agreed to buy the cosmetics company for $125 million in cash from LG Household & Health Care, Ltd., a South Korean consumer products conglomerate.
January 2020:
Natura &Co. bought Avon Products, Inc.
The Natura &Co chain includes Natura, Aesop, and The Body Shop, and with the acquisition of Avon, it has grown to become the world’s fourth-largest pure-play cosmetics company.
September 2020:
The business debuted a new ad campaign called “Watch Me Now,” which featured fresh brand images and a new Avon logo.

In the cosmetics business, Avon competes with brands such as L’Oreal and Estée Lauder in terms of brand recognition and quality.
Avon has been in business for more than 130 years, and women continue to buy its products. For that, we have to give them a lot of credit.
Side note: The Avon Research & Development Center is even located in New York, according to the corporation.

For the past fifteen years, it has ruled the network marketing industry.
Amway, along with its sister company Alticor, is the only MLM that has the largest number of distributors and affiliated companies.
It includes a million-strong distributor team in more than 100 countries.
Avon Review: Is Avon A Pyramid Scheme?
Avon is definitely not a pyramid scheme or a scam. It has a proven track record that can be trusted upon. It sells high-quality products.
Avon has long been and continues to be, the backbone of the direct sales industry’s credibility.
It has unintentionally provided credibility to multi-level marketing (MLM) schemes that promoted outlandish health scams, some of which have been sued by financially affected customers, while others have been shut down for pyramid fraud by regulators.
Through their affiliation with Avon as “direct selling” companies, blatant schemes can persuade buyers that they are legal MLMs.
Anyone who has questioned a multi-level marketing company’s credibility has been met with the defiant question, “Are you claiming Avon is also fraudulent?”

If you really want to make an impact right away, invest in a higher-priced beginning package ($50 to $100).
Avon’s commission ratio might reach 50% depending on sales volume.
You can earn up to 50% sales commission if you hit the company’s “President’s Club” rank.
This is really generous in the multi-level marketing world.
Products are affordable
