According to their webisite, the product has undergone considerable research and has been clinically proven to maintain a healthy immune system, aid in the development of lean muscles, and boost workout performance.
The benefits of this specific protein isolate were discovered in the 1980s by Drs. Gustavo Bounous and Patricia Kongshavn.
Immunotec was founded in 1996 by the two scientists and network marketing veterans Chuck Roberts, John Molson, and Dieter Beer.
Today, the company operates in Canada, the United States, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, Colombia, Peru, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Spain.
Immunotec is one of the few MLM companies with a (non-drug) nutritional product included in the PDR and Compendium of Pharmaceuticals and Specialties (CPS).
Immunotec is a member of the Direct Selling Association, a company dedicated to ethical business practices and consumer protection. The Code of Ethics is the cornerstone of that commitment.
Immunotec undertakes to follow the Code’s standards and processes as a condition of membership in the Association as a DSA member company.
The Code assures that member MLM companies do not make representations or promises that could lead to misinformation among consumers or salespeople.

Immunotec History: How It All Started
Dr. Gustavo Bounous, Dr. Patricia Kongshavn, and Dr. Wulf Dröge, all of Montreal, Canada, discovered the significance of whey protein isolate in increasing glutathione, the body’s master antioxidant, more than four decades ago.
Immunotec was founded in the mid-1990s by the scientists with the support of veteran network marketing entrepreneurs Chuck Roberts, Dieter Beer, and John Molson, a member of the famous Molson family from Canada.
Immunocal, Immunotec’s flagship product, has received global recognition thanks to patents issued in the United States, Canada, and other countries. It has been listed in reputable medical publications, is backed by official government health claims, and is used by elite professional and amateur athletes worldwide.
Immunotec History: Who Is Dr. Patricia Kongshavn?
As a Major Scholar at Cambridge University, Dr. Kongshavn received an Honors Degree in Natural Sciences, and after immigrating to Canada, she finished her PhD in Immunology at McGill University.
She then joined the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University, where she worked in the Departments of Physiology and Medicine before becoming a Full Professor in 1986.
Her research was supported by the Medical Research Council of Canada, the National Cancer Institute of Canada, and the National Institutes of Health of the United States.
Her main research interests emphasize cellular immunology, host/parasite interactions, and natural resistance genetics.
She began working with Dr. Gustavo on a project in the mid-1970s to look into the effects of various dietary proteins on immunological response.
They first published a paper on this topic in 1978, and they continued to collaborate until 1989, co-authoring 14 papers during that time.
This research led to the identification of a particular whey protein concentrate that boosted immunological function while controlling glutathione levels. As a result, IMMUNOCAL, a high-quality natural product, was created.
Immunotec History: Who Is Dr. Gustavo Bounous?
Dr. Gustavo was born in the Italian town of Luserna in 1928 and studied at the Universities of Turin and Genoa. He began his successful career in medical research as a Research Fellow in surgery at the Indiana Medical Center in Indianapolis and went on to become a Professor of Surgery at the Universities of Sherbrooke (1973-1985) and McGill University (1985-1993).
In 1965, Dr. Bounous was awarded a medal by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. In 1968, he was named a Career Investigator of the Medical Research Council, an honor he received again in 1993, the year he left McGill University.
In 1978, Dr. Bounous and colleagues from the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University began a new research program to find a dietary protein source that would boost the immune system.
Their research led to the isolation and preparation of an undenatured milk concentrate that supports normal glutathione levels and a healthy immune system.
Immunocal was developed as a high-quality bioactive material that was trademarked in 1993 when the active components in this protein mixture were identified. Dr. Bounous later explained, “Discoveries are not made by scientific committees; they are made by individuals who have been lucky and persistent.”
Immunotec History: Who Is Dr. Wulf Droge?
Dr. Wulf Dröge is considered a redox pioneer because he co-authored an article on antioxidant/redox biology that has been cited over 2000 times and has produced over 10 articles with over 100 citations.
One of the most important discoveries in 1987 was the stimulatory effect of superoxide radicals and hydrogen peroxide on lymphocyte functions, which sparked a flurry of research into the role of reactive oxygen species, glutathione, and its precursor cysteine in physiological and pathological processes.
He discovered abnormally low cysteine and glutathione levels in patients infected with the human immunodeficiency virus, as well as an age-related decline in the postabsorptive plasma cysteine concentration, which is believed to cause age-related oxidative stress.

What Is Immunocal?
This Immunotec product is a patented natural food protein concentrate from the United States that helps in the maintenance of optimal glutathione levels in the body by supplying the precursors essential for intracellular glutathione synthesis.
Increased glutathione levels have been proven scientifically (Lands et al, 1999).
Glutathione augmentation is a treatment for glutathione deficiency, high oxidative stress, immunological deficiency, and xenobiotic excess in which glutathione is involved in xenobiotic detoxification.
HIV/AIDS, infectious hepatitis, certain types of cancers, cataracts, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, radiation, acetaminophen and related agent poisoning, malnutrition states, extreme physical stress, and aging have all been linked to glutathione deficiency.
Oxidative stress has been connected to a variety of clinical pathologies, and various medical references have been written about it.
Low glutathione levels have also been linked to wasting and a negative nitrogen balance, as seen in cancer, AIDS, sepsis, trauma, burns, and even athletes who over train. Cysteine (one of the amino acids found in whey protein) supplementation, can prevent this process, resulting in increased survival rates in AIDS patients, for example.
Is Immunocal FDA Approved?
Immunocal has been classified as a GRAS product by the FDA (generally recognized as safe).
As a natural food supplement, it is not permitted to make medical claims.
The FDA has not reviewed the company’s report about the product. This means that this product is not intended to be used to diagnose, treat, prevent, or cure any disease.

My answer is firm no.
Several Immunotec products have U.S. patents, and their founding scientists are well-known and respected in the scientific world.
Is Immunotec A Pyramid Scheme?
Immunotec isn’t a pyramid scheme. Some may believe this is due to the fact that Immunotec Consultants are compensated in a pyramid-like business model.
This is not a pyramid scheme because a pyramid scheme is a program that solely focuses on recruiting new members.
Pyramid scheme companies do not have any products or services to sell to customers or promote in order to make money for their affiliates.
Network marketing (also known as multi-level marketing) is a program that includes recruitment, but it is not the only source of income.
Immunotec has products and/or services to sell, and its distributors can profit from product promotion.
Having said that, Immunotec is not a pyramid scheme because it sells genuine products that its consultants can resell to make money. It has only been compared to a pyramid because it employs a pyramid-style recruitment system.
And it’s DAMN hard to make money with it to be honest…

Immunotec doesn’t have many customer complaints on the BBB (Better Business Bureau) website except for 1, in the last 3 years, and 1 in the last 12 months.
The complaint concerned a refund that did not include the shipping fee. Immunotec eventually resolved the case by refunding the shipping fee, despite the fact that the company is not required to include shipping expenses in its policies and procedures.
